Every year, IBM hold 'You elections' where employees can select the flexible benefits they want to take up during the year. To promote the Additional Smart Contributions (ASCs) and Matched Contributions available in the pension scheme, IBM's pensions team attend the 'You elections' roadshows and asked us to help them develop some promotional literature. The campaign features images of members with their heads inside paper bags, avoiding the reality of retirement saving. A six foot tall cardboard cutout 'paper bag man' was created for the stand to draw employees' attention and the pensions team handed out branded paper bags filled with literature. The 2010 ‘You Elections’ introduced Matched Contributions for the first time, resulting in a take-up of over 3,600 members, with over 88% of those electing the maximum Matched Contribution.
