Our timeline on this project was very short and having a strong relationship with SHILLING allowed us to ensure that we implemented the change quickly in a manner that was clearly understood by our membership. A difficult message clearly communicated was the key, as were SHILLING. |

History
In January 1999, Kevin Shilling took the decision to leave a global firm of consulting actuaries and set up SHILLING Communication.
Ten years later and the journey that started as a 'one man band' is now a thriving business employing 30 people and providing strategic communication consultancy, planning and implementation to some of the UK's largest pension schemes. And what a journey it's been...
- January 1999 – The business was started. We immediately acquired GSK, Associated British Foods and the Co-operative Group as clients.
- February 1999 – Kevin and his wife Debbie moved the business to the old Dairy in Liss.
- July 2001 – Not wanting to leave our rural setting in Liss, but with a growing team, we moved into Plestor House to continue our expansion. BAE Systems appointed us for all communication needs across seven schemes.
- March 2002 saw us awarded ‘Investors in People’. Key to our success is the commitment of our staff and we continue to retain the IIP status.
- We were named Communication Practise of 2003 by UK Pension Managers.
- September 2006 – We bought Clarke House to expand our business base further. The same year we began working with the Co-operative Group to merge 120,000 staff in three schemes into one new CARE scheme.
- In May 2007 we were thrilled to be awarded Communications Specialists of the Year at the Pensions & Investment Provider Awards. We worked with RSA and their trustees to restructure all of their DB and DC pension arrangements.
- August 2008– We acquired a converted water mill in Liss to house the Company’s growing number of specialists. We began working with BT on the introduction of significant pension changes to their DB and DC schemes.
- March 2009 – We were appointed by Royal Mail Pension Trustees Ltd to provide ongoing communication support.
- September 2009 - We were appointed by CAA to develop a new scheme identity
- May 2010 - We opened our office in the centre of Dublin and appointed two experienced consultants to form the basis of the new team
