I'd like to thank SHILLING for all their hard work developing our online Pensions site. We now have a very user friendly source of information for all employees to use which importantly for us, can be updated very quickly when required. |

Communication forum
We are often asked for our opinion on communications: How can we make it better? What can we do to make members read the information we send them? How do we help members to understand and appreciate their benefits package? The answer - communicate rather than correspond.
To answer all of those questions in one place we hold a biannual communication forum for clients and prospects; the most recent of which took place during October and covered:
- Annual communication plans
Whether it’s scheme changes, or ongoing communication requirements, a well planned communication strategy can help you to achieve any number of objectives. The plan should meet legal requirements, use various media techniques and provide support for wider pensions issues. - Pension scheme branding
Pension communication needs to stand out from all of the other information that an employee receives, but there is often a need for integration with the corporate brand too. This session looked at brand durability and the advantages of a well considered brand in relation to Trustee governance. - Benefit statements
Personalised communication has come a long way. Annual benefit statements no longer need to be a bland list of numbers and jargon, but can include variable graphs, imagery and wording to engage with members and help them to make important decisions for their future. - Multimedia innovations
Technology is an area that is constantly developing. We are certainly keeping ahead of the crowd and used the latest forum to launch our generic defined contribution modeller, a new help system for pension enquiries and developments to our pension website content management system, GCOM.
If you were unable to join us on Friday, but would like to hear more about the forum then get in touch. Alternatively, if you would like to come along to our next meeting email katie@shilling.co.uk and we will add your name to the invitation list.
